Dr. Mary Elizabeth Micari is the founder of M Center Acupuncture and Wellness, a sanctuary born from a lifetime of navigating the high-intensity energy of New York City. As a native New Yorker, Dr. Mary Elizabeth understands the unique stresses of city life firsthand. Having navigated her own health challenges, she discovered that the integration of acupuncture and holistic healing was not just a supplement to wellness, but the absolute foundation of it.
A Life in the Arts: Broadway, Unions & The PATH Method
Before her transition into clinical medicine, Dr. Mary Elizabeth established a prolific career as a professional performer, educator, and theater professional. An accomplished singer of Opera, Jazz, Blues, and Comedy, she has graced stages across the city and beyond. As a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association (AEA) and IATSE, her deep understanding of the industry is informed by a decade of working both center stage and backstage on Broadway. This “behind-the-scenes” perspective allows her to treat the unique physical and vocal rigors of the industry with unparalleled peer-to-peer insight.
In addition to her performance career, she served as a dedicated voice teacher for 25 years, during which time she developed her signature PATH method of holistic vocal training. This comprehensive approach treats the voice as an extension of the entire physical and emotional body.
A Fusion of Clinical Science & Holistic Artistry
Dr. Mary Elizabeth brings a rare breadth of credentials to her practice. She holds a Doctorate in Acupuncture and is a NYS Licensed Acupuncturist, specializing in Facial Acupuncture (certified by the Pacific College of Health and Science). Her clinical expertise is enhanced by her background as a NYS Licensed Cosmetologist and her Certification in Green Medicine from the Open Center NYC, allowing her to offer a medical-grade approach to aesthetic and internal health.
Master Herbalism & The Wise Woman Tradition
With a healing journey in the herbal arts spanning back to 1996, Dr. Mary Elizabeth is deeply rooted in the Wise Woman tradition. She completed a year-long intensive apprenticeship with Peeka Trenkle and has studied alongside world-renowned herbalists, including Rosemary Gladstar and Susun Weed. To bridge these traditional roots with clinical excellence, she also studied Chinese Herbalism at the Pacific College of Health and Science. Her botanical mastery is rounded out by decades of practical work in Aromatherapy, Bach Flower Remedies, and Homeopathy.
Spiritual Advocacy & Sacred Transitions
Dr. Mary Elizabeth is an Ordained Minister of Melchizedek, officially registered with the New York City Clerk’s Office. This designation allows her to serve the diverse interfaith community of New York as a spiritual advocate and officiant for life’s most sacred rites of passage.
Complementing her ministerial work, she is a Certified Death Doula (IAP College), providing compassionate support for those navigating life’s final transition. This sacred work is supported by her practice as a Reiki Master (Reiki Rhapsody), carrying a distinguished dual lineage, and her work as a Certified Sound and Music Healer (Sound and Music Institute). Under the guidance of masters like Silvia Nakkach, she bridges her musical mastery with clinical vibrational therapy to support the body, mind, and spirit.
